Project Description

Case Study – Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger

Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger (BSCAH) empowers its community to lead healthier, more productive and self-sufficient lives by increasing their access to nutritious food and related resources.

The Engagement

Following Hurricane Sandy, BSCAH asked for PennPAC’s assistance in market repositioning.  The PennPAC  team produced an array of updated marketing materials and recommendations for clients, funders, and a press kit promoting its affiliation with the NFL for the upcoming NY-based Super Bowl.

The Outcome

  • BSCAH saw a 44% year over year increase in Dec. funds raised following its annual Thanksgiving appeal designed by PennPAC.
  • The work the PennPAC team produced for BSCAH’s Taste of the NFL submission came in 2nd place overall, raised $59,000 and received an additional $100,000 donation from the event.
  • The materials created continue to be used every day.

Client Reflections

“The overall marketing changes and the new approaches PennPAC has brought to BSCAH gave my board, volunteers, the community and me the exact shot in the arm that we so desperately needed.

I am overwhelmed by your effort and I cannot begin to truly thank you.”

- Dr. Melony Samuels, Executive Director, Bed-Stuy Campaign Against Hunger
